Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking in Nepal




Short treks near the Pokhara. One of the attractions of the Pokhara region is the opportunity to makes short trek ranging from a few hours to a week. If you don’t have time for one of the longer treks, or don’t thing you are ready for one, you can cobble together an interesting trek from parts of longer treks, many fine short treks begin and end near Pokhara. You can reach the starting point of these treks with a short journey by bus or car. Try one of the following.

Annapurna Panorama


After a Stiff climb to Ghorepani for great views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche peak, Dhampus peak, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhare, Annapurna 1 and Tarke Kang (formerly) known as glacier Dome. An Early-morning excursion to Poon hill (3210m), about an hours climb, provides an even better unobstructed view of the Himalayan.
Ghorepani means “horse water” and it is no doubt a welcome watering stop for the tems of horse, mules and ponies that carry loads between pokhara and Jomsom. This trek return through Ghandruk, a large Gurung village.
